Keira Pussey

The theme for this project was based around the exterior architecture of houses. I wanted to produce a creative structured home for the famous artist Pablo Picasso. During this project I wanted to come to an understanding of how architects are influenced by their clients and in my case that was Picasso. I drew a lot of inspiration from the artist himself as well as a variety of architects such as Antoni Gaudi, Frank Gehry and Andrew Maynard. I researched Gaudi’s fabulous mosaic work which I knew was definitely going to be a part of my future designs. I thoroughly enjoyed experimenting with the patterns and colours he used then connect them to Picasso’s work. Gehry influenced the way I thought abut architecture and the development of my ideas as he is mainly known for his bold architectural features and unusual shapes. Discovering Maynard’s work dramatically changed my designs due to his bold cylindrical buildings which I found hugely inspiring. For me this project was to be as innovative as possible. Exploring new materials I had not used before, being introduced to a variety of artists and architects and just producing something different from everybody else has confirmed my passion for the subject.
