Matilda Berry

My theme is about women and the effects society has had on their identity. This mostly consists of the exploration of makeup and how it’s used by different people. I have focused on women in my work as I feel like it is more personal as I can put my own personal opinions and experiences in my pieces. This is especially true as I am in the generation of social media influencers creating unrealistic and impossible beauty standards (including big lips, a perfect hourglass figure, and no imperfections such as stretchmarks). As my work has progressed, I have found myself looking at the concept of age and how beauty standards affect women of different ages differently. Therefore, for my final, I have decided to focus on the constraints placed on young girls and the cycle of conforming they go through.
