My main theme in Art is Hidden which goes into working with hidden emotions linking to social expectations. My theme started off working with portraits that were hidden within backgrounds or collages then I explored more into different ways to hide work. I work with portraits where sections of the face are hidden due to the idea of social expectations because people feel the need to meet society’s idea of “perfection” which makes everyone the same and boring so then because of these expectations people can’t be themselves and show their emotion and their true feelings. So, my theme focuses on emotion being missed because of social expectations which is represented through my work with colour to resemble the emotion.
