My idea is black excellence and struggle to highlight the talent and inspiration the black community has carried into today’s culture and also the misfortunes that black people have to go through. As a black young woman, I am intrigued by this topic as I can relate to it. Not only because I am in a black community but because I live in Birmingham, a diverse, cultural city where all races are usually close-knitted and there’s a sense of togetherness, especially now, where movements like black lives matter is at its all-time high and all races are participating supporting it. In my project, I intend to portray work that has a message behind it or unveils an emotional reaction for the viewer. Seeing the reality of this world and living in a ‘woke’ society, had inspired me to take on this project.
