For the ‘Emergency on Planet Earth’ project, I decided on exploring the effects of capitalism on the youth and the society we live in today as this is something I am very interested in and concerned about. I wanted to focus on designs and illustrations that would best showcase this theme and would be able to highlight the different ways in which we are being manipulated by the media. We are not aware of many of our subconscious thoughts that are brought upon by the capitalistic intentions deeply rooted within our society which has developed over the years. Constructs such as Beauty standards are formulated in an attempt to sell products that are said to ‘fix’ them, I want to stand against this in order to help people become more aware of their thoughts and the reasons behind this mindset.
