The Graphic Communication course at Cadbury Sixth Form College allows you to explore digital imaging, typography, illustration and photography as well as industry standard printing techniques and processes.
There is also a small focus on drawing and painting from observation using traditional techniques. Students will also develop visual research skills and explore the design idea process.
As we dissect the designs we see every day, we will analyse the secrets of their influence and use our new found knowledge to craft logos, layouts, flyers and posters.
As we move on to practical skills, we will explore Adobe Creative Cloud, Photoshop and InDesign - the industries most respected design tool, covering basic essentials such as the pimple obliterating Healing tool through to the grapple of everyone’s nemesis; the Pen tool.
A minimum of five GCSEs (with two at grade 6, and three at grade 4). GCSE English at grade 4 and an associated Art & Design subject at grade 5 or a portfolio of work demonstrating your artistic skills and/or sofware knowledge.
Graphics A-Level enables progression on to a number of degree courses at university within the field including Web Design, Interior Design, Visual Communications and Photography. It also leads to a number of careers including Animator, Web Designer, Games Designer, Typographer, Packaging Designer, Furniture Design, Editorial Design, Exhibition Design, Illustrator and Advertising.
